Dr. Daryl L. Ammons
Dr. Ammons graduated from Life University in 1980. Prior to his chiropractic studies, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduating with a Biology degree. Dr. Ammons was born in Sanford, lived in the Deep River community north of Sanford, and graduated from Deep River High School. He became interested in Chiropractic after experiencing the benefits of Chiropractic on several occasions as a teenager and, once his undergrad studies were completed, decided his calling was to be a Chiropractor. While in chiropractic college Dr. Ammons had the good fortune to study under and later intern with Dr. Roy Sweat researcher and developer of the Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic program. Dr. Ammons was a charter member and has served on the Board of Directors of the R.W. Sweat Research Foundation since it’s inception in the 1980’s. Dr. Ammons has continued his studies and has been board certified in Atlas Orthogonal procedures by both the R. W. Sweat Foundation and Sherman College of Chiropractic. He has also been certified in Activator Methods Chiropractic, Cox Flexion Distraction procedures, Advanced Spinal Biomechanical Engineering, and most recently received certification in Kennedy Decompression Technique. He has also studied nutrition extensively, especially the role of whole food supplements in improving bodily function, healing, and overall health. Dr. Ammons has always made every effort to have the best of equipment and stay abreast of any new advances in Chiropractic. When he is not working Dr. Ammons enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, church activities, and spending time with his wife and three children.
Dr. Rachel Myers
Dr. Rachel Myers comes to us all the way from Dallas, TX where she received her bachelors degree in Biology and Religion from Dallas Baptist University and her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker College of Chiropractic. Dr. Myers has a focus in Functional Medicine. She continues her post graduate works with seminars that take a deeper look at the hormonal imbalances of the body, endocrine function, brain and neurotransmitters and in depth thyroid studies.
Dr. Myers assists people in achieving their optimal health by focusing on correcting the imbalances in the physiology of each person. This includes organ function through detoxification and supplementation as well as advanced chiropractic techniques. Dr. Myers evaluation procedures include blood, urine, stool and saliva analysis. Through Dr. Myers thorough clinical analysis, she is able to customize a treatment program for each of her patients’ unique needs.
Dr. Benjamin Scott McDowell
Doctor Benjamin Scott McDowell was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia with his younger sister. He grew up playing baseball and football and picked up the sport of lacrosse while attending high school. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout after participating actively in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America from the 1st grade to his 18th birthday. He attended the University of Georgia, where he participated in leadership roles in the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology after four years while maintaining the HOPE Scholarship for the entirety of his undergraduate education. He attended Life University for three and a half years where he earned Dean’s List Honors. He graduated Cum Laude with the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic from Life’s prestigious College of Chiropractic. He studied under Doctors Roy and Matt Sweat, pioneers in the chiropractic profession, while at Life University. He began to learn their Atlas Orthogonal chiropractic technique while he spent months at their office in Atlanta.
Doctor Ben enjoys many leisurely activities in his free time. He grew up playing golf with his father and enjoys the sport enormously to this day. He also grew up participating in many activities that sportsmen and outdoorsmen worldwide have handed down for generations such as hunting, fishing, and hiking, and camping.
He is deeply grateful to Doctor Daryl L Ammons for hiring him and is truly blessed to have the position of Associate Chiropractor at Ammons Chiropractic Clinic. It has been his pleasure to meet many of the fine people of Sanford, and he looks forward to making the acquaintance of many more in the near future. He firmly believes the adage that Doctor Roy W. Sweat relayed to him; the second best thing to creating a human life is to enhance a human life. He plans to employ this philosophy in his care for the patients of Ammons Chiropractic Clinic.
April was born in Greensboro, NC but calls Sanford her home after living here with her husband and 2 children for over 20 years. She is our front desk coordinator and has almost 15 years experience in the health care industry. She is usually the first person you will see or talk to at our office. April is eager to help you start your journey of wellness with us.
Robin, ARRT-R is our Radiology Technologist and is an expert at obtaining X-rays of the highest quality which are necessary for the type of care offered in our office. She utilizes the latest technology in low dosage high frequency digital X-ray. In addition, she is an Advanced Certified Chiropractic Assistant, is certified in our class IV theraputic K-laser, Kennedy Decompression Technique and may be helping you improve through a variety of therapies or exercises.
Mike Knapp originally grew up outside of Chicago. He received his certification for Massage Therapy from National University of Health Sciences in Illinois. Mike then moved to Mannheim, Germany with his wife and set up a massage practice at Sullivan Barracks. His focus at that time was to help soldiers and their families deal with the daily stresses of military life before, after, and during deployments. He has resided in Sanford since 2009 and has become an active member within the community. He helped to establish and maintain Sanford’s first community garden. Mike enjoys cooking, organic gardening, martial arts, and fixing things around the house and garage.
Terry is the office manager and has been a certified Chiropractic Assistant for 25 years. She also has her insurance and billing certification through the North Carolina Chiropractic Association.
Laura grew up in Lee County, after graduating from UNC-W with a Bachelors degree in Motion Picture Film Studies she returned to her home town. She has marketed for several local businesses and non profits. She is the public face of our practice and eagerly awaits meeting you at all of our local events and businesses. Laura is extremely active in the community as a Chamber Ambassador, Central Carolina Jaycees member, and professional photographer. She is the mother to 2 beautiful girls, ages 10 and 4.
Kendal Elizabeth Lautzenheiser grew up outside of Grand Rapids, MI. She and her husband moved to North Carolina in 2012 and are very fond of the amazing weather here. In July 2015 they welcomed the birth of their son. She takes full advantage of the beauty of North Carolina by enjoying activities such as backpacking, biking, line dancing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Kendal became fascinated with chiropractic after experiencing healing from many health and spinal problems of her own. She was a patient at Ammons Chiropractic Clinic before she started working here. Kendal is now a Certified Chiropractic Clinical Assistant. She is very excited about her opportunity at Ammons Chiropractic Clinic and one of her favorite job perks is being able to encourage others to strive for their health and wellness goals.
